Hail Ya

Today we stopped at Pagosa hot springs in Colorado. When we arrived, the smell of sulfur attacked our noses...wow did that have a strong smell. Once we checked in to our hotel and threw our swim suits on, we headed to the pools. There wasn't just one hot spring pool, there were 22 springs, with temps ranging from 88 to 111 degrees. After swimming for a couple of hours in pools with mini water falls, and the San Juan river rushing right next to us, we went out to dinner. Kip's Cantina and Grille was awesome. We had burgers, shrimp tacos and fajitas. When we got back to the hotel, Jack, my dad and I headed back to the hot springs. As soon as we got into the pools it started to hail. I had never seen hail the size of marbles before- they were like huge dipping dots. But the weather didn't stop us from going into one of the springs. Then it started coming down harder and before we knew it, hail was nailing us on the head and it hurt! Thankfully the only other people in the hot spring thought fast and put up an umbrella for us to take cover. Within minutes, BOOM came the thunder, followed
quickly by lighting, and we knew it was time to get out. We sprinted back to the hotel, trying to dodge the hail, and were finally safe inside. It was close one, but super fun. Next up- road trip to Mesa Verde and the Grand Canyon. Can't wait! Grant
