First Impressions...Santa Fe

our Juanita casita

The boys hooping it up with locals in Santa Fe

Never make a final judgement after driving for six hours and being sleep deprived. As we drove through Santa Fe and pulled up to our new casita, we were greeted across the street by the neighborhood pitbull. The chain link fence that separated us from our new friend included a Everlast heavy bag attached to wire and cinder blocks that were piled in the corner next to the garbage can and broken direct tv satellite dish. I looked at Julie and commented,  "This can't be right, this not our street!?" After some breathing exercises, we pulled into our driveway and walked into a beautiful adobe that was immaculate...the entire experience quickly changed from panic to euphoria. It took only a day or two of walking through the historic town and railyard art district to realize Santa Fe is a town with vibrant color and deep rooted culture.  This morning we spent a couple hours meandering through the farmers market which is around the corner from our house. We sat watching cool live music while devouring authentic NM breakfast burritos. Artists lined the streets displaying their colorful pottery and jewelry while local farmers sold everything from freshly baked breads and meats to organically grown produce.  The town has an awesome art vibe and over a dozen parks with hoops, tennis courts and baseball fields. The boys have already had a full court game with a dozen other kids this afternoon. Their team captain did have to take a smoke break a few times, but it was very cool that they were invited to play!

Happy Easter! Jay

  1. Great update. Thanks for not saying that the big headed red stick figures in the 4th picture remind you of anyone in particular. NM looks awesome. Julie looks fantastic! Love, Scott

    1. I think there is an issue with the comments capability. This comment is censored more than my letters to the NYT.
