Taos!

With our cousin, Cam, visiting and a 12 inch blizzard on the radar, we knew we had to take him to Taos Ski Valley. So just a few hours after arriving in Santa Fe, we packed it up and took off for the mountains. After arriving in Taos, the temperature had dropped from 70 degrees in Santa Fe to 25 degrees in Taos and the storm was brewing.  The first day of skiing was really windy and sleeting, but with the promising forecast and the storm just starting, we decided to check into a hotel. This wasn't any old hotel. This hotel had a gigantic, salt water pool with a simulated rainforest surrounding it and our rooms had a huge bath tub that was free standing and a very cool shower that was tiled in rocks. After an hour or two of swimming, we headed to a pizza parlor down the street. With the storm at the peak of its snow fall, the restaurant's power went off! The workers quickly gave us a candle and we finished our dinner listening to their restaurant's ghost stories. Back at the hotel, we took another swim  and then called it a night and went to our rooms. With a POP, the power went out in our room and we were relying on a generator to give us a few lights (no t.v. or tub jets). Twenty minutes later, the remaining lights flickered and off those went too. But we woke up in the morning (still to no power) but to 20 inches of fresh POWDER. We had a huge day of skiing - definitely in top three of the year. Cam nailed the weather...two days of great skiing and two bright blue days of travel.  Now it's time to pack up the ski gear and move onto the desert.

  1. Looks like fun. Not sure I've seen Henry wear pants (other than when skiing) yet. Julie looks ridiculous.
